E. coli Lab Scale Fermentation
Escherichia coli has been chosen as a highly promising and robust cell factory for heterologous production of nonribosomal peptides and polyketides, given its versatile advantages including easy cultivation, genetic manipulation and scalable fermentation. Heterologous production of natural products in Escherichia coli has emerged as an attractive strategy to obtain molecules of interest. Laboratory scale production is technically feasible. For enzyme production, the nature of the production host organism and selection of plasmid vector are crucial to the expression of a particular enzyme.
