Vorpal Knight, clarification.

I love this PDF by the way. I wanted to ask though on the vorpal knight, it says you can't mark a soul greater than 3hd of your vorpal knight level. Was this created with the assumption of normal races? I have an Ogre that is going become a vorpal knight but already has 4 racial hit dice to his name. 

You can see the trouble here, he's going to be behind the curve on CR/HD of monsters pretty quick.  By chance, did it mean total HD?

    Looking up a lot of classes in base pathfinder most of them treat any HD as the level for the class. I'm going to assume it meant that.
